Converting Film To Dvd
|
There are different types of films and there are different ways of converting film to DVD. Here we will discuss about the whole process. So, at first we should have a basic knowledge of films. Mainly there are three types of films - 35mm, 16mm and 8mm. Now a days 35mm and 16mm films are mostly used. So anyone can shoot in 35mm or 16mm film but after the shooting those film reels have to undergo ‘telecine' process in order to digitalize the raw films. After digitalized the film we can work on the raw files, means we can edit the footage. In this process we can arrange the raw files into a sequential order. After you complete the editing your movie is ready for sell. Now if you want this movie to release in theatre, then you need to do a ‘reverse telecine' by which you can get your edited movie in a reel which is called ‘mother print'. Now if you want your movie in DVD then you have to use some software to make the DVD. But at this stage you would not be able to make the DVD as the file size is higher that a DVD space. So in order to accommodate the space you have to compress your movie to a small file. Now you can write on a DVD. Before writing in DVD select the minimum writing speeds so that you will not lose any information. There is another thing you should keep in mind that in which format you want to make your DVD, whether in PAL or NTSC.
There is another way of converting film to DVD. If you have an edited movie in film then you can directly record it in a camera. In this process you need a camcorder (recording camera), projector, sound proof room, a white screen and a tripod for the camera. It is a very easy process to convert film into DVD. At first you have to place the camera straight to the screen in such a way that there will be no distortion in the image. You should notice that there is no image loss from the edge of the image. The camera should be placed in such a position that the frame will be tight focused. Now play the film through the projector and record it in the camcorder. It will be recorded in a tape. After recording the full film the tape will be converted to digital signal through VTR. Then we can make the DVD using any DVD making software. This is the final stage of converting film to DVD. |
